Newsletter Edition 10 June 2021

It is my pleasure to present our second Newsletter for 2021 to all Rotarians, sponsors, donors and supporters of the Malaria Vaccine Project. Both Professor Michael Good and Dr Danielle Stanisic have written articles on the scientific program and I have contributed an update on the Project. The common message coming through these articles is that COVID 19 will have exacerbated the problems associated with malaria control in endemic countries. We need to attack this terrible disease with both prevention and elimination strategies; however, the need for an effective vaccine has never been more pressing.

There are a number of moving stories about our Rotary support activities and plans and a much deserved congratulations to our hardworking Newsletter Chair PDG Sandra Doumany on her OAM. There is also a heart-rending story from a Ugandan student who read about our project. It will bring tears to your eyes but it highlights the very essence of our project and why we are so thankful for your generous support.

We have raised over $60,000 this year and that brings our total to $1.275 million. Please continue to support the Malaria Vaccine Project so that we can eliminate the needless loss of half-a-million young children and pregnant women who die from malaria every year.
